The Nanotechnology Industries Association (NIA) has been invited to present the NIA's opinion on the topic 'Why is existing regulation sufficient to ensure safe use of nanomaterials and what can industry do to generate trust?' as part of a high-level panel including European Commission officials.

On the 25 November 2010, the ERI (Emerging Risk Initiative) Working Group of the CRO Forum published Emerging Risks Initiative - Position Paper on Nanotechnology, recommending 'that assessing risk over the life cycle of these nanomaterials should be standard practice for the nanotechnology industry, as well as for their insurers and reinsurers'

Today UKNanoForum, the UK’s biggest nanotechnology trade fair, marks the formation of the NIA as a limited company, enabling the lobbying body to abandon previous restrictions and fully support the unified representation of all nanotechnology industries on a global level
