NIA welcomes Dr David Carlander as new Director of Advocacy

Dr David Carlander has joined the Nanotechnology Industries Association (NIA) as Director of Advocacy and Programme Manager of the Global-NanoMaPPP, the NIA's flagship Public-Private Partnership in the proactive safety assessment of nanomaterials.

Dr Carlander most recently worked as Scientific Officer for the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA), where he was coordinating the risk assessment of applications of nanotechnologies in the food and feed area. In addition to his knowledge of nanotechnologies, he has 15 years of experience working with governments, academia, industry and international organisations; Dr Carlander holds an MSc in Biotechnology and a PhD in Clinical Chemistry. 

"The fact that David has joined the NIA as a Director of Advocacy, with his scientific background and experience, will further strengthen and advance the NIA's role as the voice of the nanotechnology industries," said Dr. Steffi Friedrichs, Director General of the NIA.
