Three New Cosmetics Regulation Updates Approved

At their 9 February meeting, the European Commission's Standing Committee on Cosmetic Products (Part of the DG Internal Market, Industry, Entrepreneurship and SMEs) approved three new amendments to the EU's cosmetics regulation (No 1223/2009), which update regulations on three substances:

  • Carbon Black: Safe and authorised for use at a maximum concentration of 10%, except for 'sprayable applications/products.'
  • Ethyl Lauroyl Arginate HCL: Safe and authorized for use in mouthwashes at a maximum concentration of 0.15%, except for when used by children under 10.
  • Titanium Dioxide: Safe and authorized for use as a UV-filter at a maximum concentration of 25% in sunscreens, except for  'sprayable applications/products.'
