Netherlands Publishes Framework for 'NanoCosmetics Tool for Risk Assessment'

The Netherlands National Institute for Public Health and the Environment has released a new report outlining a framework for a risk assessment tool for nanomaterials in cosmetics products. The tool can provide 'fast evaluation of the potential risk of a nanomaterial' in cosmetics after inputting exposure and hazard data, which can help with development and regulation of products. Although there are challenges, such as potential data gaps, in creating the tool, the authors believe it is feasible.

The publication, Description of a NanoCosmetics Tool for Risk Assessment, was commissioned by the Netherlands Food and Consumer Product Safety Authority and can be found on the National Institute website.
