The European Commission’s (EC) Scientific Committee on Emerging and Newly Identified Health Risks (SCENIHR) has revealed that it expects to approve various opinions related to nanotechnologies at its next plenary. This information was contained within the minutes of SCENIHR’s second plenary meeting, which was held on 25 June 2013.
The two opinions are Nanosilver: safety, health and environmental effects and role in antimicrobial resistance and Health Effects of Nanomaterials Used in Medical Devices. On-going work on both of these was presented at the meeting. These were the subjects of calls for information in 2012; NIA provided information on behalf of its Members to both.
The next plenary meeting of SCENIHR is scheduled to take place on 25-26 September 2013.
