The European Commission's (EC) Scientific Committee on Consumer Safety (SCCS) recently released opinions for three nano-forms of substances: titanium dioxide, zinc oxide, and MBBT. These opinions have been opened up for comments and the aim is for '[...] applicants and other interested parties to provide limited additional perspective and/or clarification on the evaluation, interpretation, and incorporation of the submitted specific data package in the SCCS opinion'.
The nature of the comments is expected to be very technical in nature, and according to SCCS policy, will not be subject to a revision for at least 3 years. As such '[...] the Commission does not plan to reopen [the] issues following the commenting period and the publication of the opinion'.
UPDATE: The commenting period has been extended. Comments must now be received by the scientific committee by 18 September 2013.
