OECD published further details on the Sponsorship Programme of Manufactured Nanomaterials

Published: Friday 29 August 2008

The OECD’s Working Party on Manufactured Nanomaterials (WPMN) published a page dedicated to the OECD WPMN Sponsorship Programme on its public website; the page links to the table of Sponsorship Arrangements (including countries and stakeholders contributing to the programme) and the list of a representative set of manufactured nanomaterials and endpoints for Phase 1 testing.

OECD’s WPMN published launched a the Sponsorship Programme in November 2007, by agreeing on a priority list of MNs for testing (based on materials which are in or close to commerce) as well as a list of endpoints for which they should be tested.

The Nanotechnology Industries Association have formed a 50:50 public:private partnership to secure one of the largest single contributions to the OECD WPMN Sponsorship Programme; the planned PROSPEcT Project will conduct in-depth characterisation, ecotoxicology testing, environmental fate tracking, and detection prototyping of nano-ZnO and nano-CeO2.
